GAME GOLF Stats Center Preview: Bryon Nelson at TPC Four Seasons
This past summer the Tour stopped in Irving, Texas, for one last time at TPC Four Seasons before it switches to a new venue in 2018, the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
The event carries the name of the legendary Byron Nelson, (the first PGA tournament to carry the name of a Golfer) who won 11 straight PGA Tour events and 18 in total during the 1945 season. Those stats remind me of my glory days back in 2004 on PlayStation playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
Even back in Byron Nelson’s peak, stats were important and in the modern game they are essential! Each week the pro’s have their stats recorded, broken down and analyzed, so they know their distances, dispersion, strengths, and weaknesses. These are metrics that are vital for each Tour Pro (and amateur) to know. This week’s blog will look at the averages from the top 10 GAME GOLF rounds from the TPC Four Seasons Resort and compare it to the stats from last years winner, Sergio Garcia.
From the data displayed in the above diagram it is clear to see that around the Four Seasons, there is a high priority on GIR. Our GAME GOLFers hit on average 55.6% of GIR compared to the 2017 Masters Champion and defending champion at Byron Nelson, hit 79.2% of GIR. This stat really shows one of the main and most essential differences between us mere mortals and the elite level. And it’s not just the GIR, but the proximity to the hole that really increases scoring.
This small insight into stats analysis shows the importance of using more than one metric to analyze your game in order to identify strengths, weaknesses, and to focus on practice and improvement. This is where GAME GOLF LIVE can help, it keeps all your data for you so you don’t have to, and presents it in a simple way that every golfer can make sense of. Who doesn’t want to shave a stroke or 2 off their handicap?
